Utah Burning Ban is One Step from Defeat!

This Thursday (3/12) the Utah Legislature passed H.B. 396, which prohibits the Division of Air Quality (DAQ) from implementing a seasonal ban on burning and provides exemptions that will allow Utahns to burn responsibly.

With the governor’s signature, the Utah State Air Board and the DAQ can never again try to impose a seasonal wood burning ban!

Now… We have to hope that Governor Herbert actually signs the bill. Being a champion of the all-out previously proposed wood burning ban, we’ll need your help to urge him to sign this bill. Utahns have spoken and they don’t want their freedom to burn responsibly to be permanently taken away!

We’ll have more information on Monday on how you can help make sure he signs it.

Thanks to the hundreds of you that attended the hearings and submitted public comments, the thousands of you that signed the petition, and the countless others that spoke out in the news and on social media the threat of a seasonal wood burning ban is one step away from being gone for good. It is only with your support that we’ve come so far.

So, congratulations and stay tuned for updates on how you can continue to take action!
